MSG medicine bursary scheme now open

Friday 23 June 2023

To support the next generation of doctors from Guernsey, the Medical Specialist Group’s (MSG) bursary is now open for applications.

One student will get a £2,000 annual bursary for up to five years to be used while they attend medical school.

Temporary roles at the MSG during university holidays will also be provided.

Dr Anna Ogier was the last recipient of the bursary, back in 2015. She is now a qualified doctor working at Kingston Hospital in Surrey.

“I really valued the support I received from the MSG throughout my degree”, she said.

“Economically it was invaluable. Having financial aid took the pressure off during term time and allowed me to focus my attention on my studies and immerse myself in university life.

“It also helped me link up with the MSG and build my network with local professionals. This ultimately led me to get involved in summer work with the Group, working on projects alongside some amazing consultants.”

Students need to submit a 1,000-word essay to apply for the bursary, outlining how they would use the money and their future career aspirations.

You can head to the MSG’s website for more information. - https://www.msg.gg/about/supporting-students/
