Life-saving crew over the Moon with fuel sponsor

The St John marine ambulance, the Flying Christine III, has received support from Moonpig, which has sponsored its fuel for the year.

Production Designer Alan Rimington said that the work of the Christine was "invaluable" and that Moonpig was "proud" to fuel the marine ambulance's journeys.

The vessel is staffed by two medical clinicians and a paramedic from the emergency ambulance service, as well as a volunteer skipper, engineer and navigator. It's equipped in the same way as a road ambulance and typically provides pre-hospital care and emergency road transport for patients in Herm, Sark, Alderney and occasionally other vessels in Bailiwick waters, such as cruise ships.

If was launched into service in 1994, and last November celebrated its 25th anniversary with a re-dedication service and celebration at St Peter Port Harbour.

"We are extremely grateful to Moonpig for their generous support for St John and the Flying Christine," said Chief Ambulance Officer Mark Mapp.

"The vessel provides an essential life-line service for the other islands, and relies on sponsorship and donations from businesses and individuals. Knowing that the fuel costs for 2020 were covered at the start of the year was a real bonus."

Moonpig have also sponsored the St John Ambulance Christmas cards once again this year, after doing so in 2019.
