A new £1.3 million MRI Scanner has been officially unveiled, with the addition of skylight panels and mood lighting to help make the experience "less daunting" for nervous patients.
The purchase and installation of the new MRI Scanner took 22 weeks to complete. It has been funded from the States Capital Investment Portfolio and concluded the Hospital's Imaging Replacement Programme.
The facility has now been officially unveiled to the public after a £14,000 donation from The Friends of the Princess Elizabeth Hospital paid for new skylight panels and mood lighting.
"We know that having an MRI scan can be a daunting experience," said Radiology Services Manager Alistair Richards.
"The enhanced lighting funded by the Friends of the PEH makes a huge difference to how people feel when they go into the scanning room and it can help some claustrophobic patients to tolerate a scan when otherwise they would not."
Barbara Minta is the Chair of the Friends of the PEH, which raises money for a range of initiatives with the main aim of improving people's experience in hospital.
"We were delighted to be able to give a donation to the Radiology team to enhance the service users experience of the MRI scanner," she said.
"It is great to see this project completed as the enhanced lighting and sky panels significantly improves the ambiance of the MRI scanner for everyone who uses it."
