Monkey Puzzle get VIP tour of Aurigny Hangar

Tuesday 28 August 2018

Monkey Puzzle Kings' upper preschool have been given a special tour of the Aurigny hangar, where they got to go inside one of the aircraft and also took part in a paper plane competition.

The group were invited to the hangar after, ahead of them finishing preschool, they told their teachers they really wanted to meet a pilot.

The group said one of their favourite parts of the visit was getting to use the tannoy on the aircraft when they were looking around - some of them even got the opportunity to sit in the captain's seat alongside First Officer Tristan Marchant.

Lorna Froome from Monkey Puzzle said the visit was part of their focus on outdoor learning.

"We are focusing loads on outdoor learning activiities, and also, this year group seem to really love planes," she said.

"We have been to a lot of different places but Aurigny have put on a really amazing visit for us. They all got to meet a pilot, which they really wanted to as well."

"My favourite part was making the paper aeroplanes, I have made them before but a long time ago," 4-year-old Sam Alfred said.

"Speaking into the megaphone on the plane was fun - I got to say 'welcome aboard'."

All of the class were given prizes for taking part in the competition, and there were also special prizes for the two who managed to throw their plane the furthest and for the best decorated.
