Manual workers agree pay deal

Thursday 01 February 2018

Unite the Union says Guernsey's manual workers have agreed a pay deal with the States.

Negotiations continued this morning with a meeting chaired by Unite's Regional Officer, Bob Lanning.

In a statement issued after that meeting, Mr Lanning said:

“A pay offer of 2% was put to the manual workers at a meeting at Beau Sejour this morning, they have voted to accept, but Unite will need a further meeting with the manual workers based at the hospital next week before we can confirm acceptance.”

A deal will be formally agreed with the States of Guernsey following that meeting with hospital staff.

Meanwhile, a ballot of Unite members is currently running to gauge opinions on the States Pension offer. That closes on Monday.
