Man taken to Emergency Department after falling down cliffs at Icart

Wednesday 17 March 2021

A young man was admitted to the Emergency Department after falling down the cliffs at Icart.

Guernsey Coastguard Search and Rescue Mission Coordinator Mike Harris said a member of the public had called JESCC at 15:52 yesterday, reporting that their friend had fallen down the cliffs whilst walking in the area.

A rescue operation was launched involving the Emergency Ambulance Service, Guernsey Police, Guernsey Fire’s Cliff Rescue team, Guernsey Coastguard and the RNLI lifeboats.

The casualty was located near the base of the cliff and was rescued by the inshore lifeboat crew using a basket stretcher.

From there, the young man was taken by boat to St Peter Port Harbour, where an ambulance was waiting to transport the patient to the Emergency Department for treatment.
