Production has nearly wrapped on a local film, with the addition of actor Christopher Eccleston.
The BAFTA nominee and Emmy Award winner had leant his voice to Whispers of Freedom, the latest work by filmmaker Brandon Ashplant.
The film is set in 1980s Cold War East Berlin and is based on the true story of Chris Gueffroy who decided to escape to West Berlin.
The film also stars Thomas W Gabrielsson as the Swedish Prime Minister Ingvar Carlsson.
In a short statement Brandon said: “Principal photography recently wrapped in Berlin, with production having taken place at key locations in the former east of the city, including Wedekindstraße - the same Berlin street that Georg Dreyman lives on in Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck's Oscar-winning The Lives of Others (2006).
“Prior to that, production largely took place in Guernsey in April, including at the Guernsey Water’s Kings Mills WTW site, Burnt Lane, Back Street car park and various other locations. The film is supported by the DDR Museum in Berlin and Guernsey Arts.”
