After 11 hours and 50 jellyfish stings, Guernsey father, Tim Pond completed his open water swimming challenge in aid of the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation.

Tim swam all the way from Jersey to France over the weekend to raise money for the charity, which supported his family when his daughter, Macie, was born eight years ago.

The 14-mile swim was a huge challenge for Tim, who was seriously ill last year and had to spend time in hospital.

"We're so proud of him," said Sammy Meerveld from the PPBF. "It's amazing, especially as he was so ill not long ago. The physical and mental endurance he had to keep going is admirable.

"A massive thank you so much to Paul Mason, Jenny and Steve the support crew who kept Tim going. Awesome!"

This year's swim was the second fundraising effort Tim has been involved in for the foundation, after completing the Great North Swim in 2013.

He spent over a year training and is thought to be the first person from Guernsey to complete the Jersey to France route.

Donations towards the cause are still being accepted here.
