LISTEN: The Interview - Mickey Haimes discusses his new EP ahead of pre-launch party

Saturday 26 October 2024

Singer-songwriter Mickey Haimes will give a glimpse of what is to come from his new EP at a pre-release party on Monday night.

Ahead of that, he spoke to Express about his journey to this point and gave an insight into the songs that are about to be released.

"I'm excited to finally launch this project," he said.

"This EP has been a personal journey for a while and now I'm delighted to be bringing it to life with the help of some wonderfully talented, local artists and musicians."

He draws influence from the likes of Rodriguez, Arctic Monkeys, Bob Dylan, Jack Johnson, Leonard Cohen, and Aztec Camera.

"These songs are me trying to make sense of the life that I live, and one way that I have discovered over the last few years to be a really effective way of dealing with things is to turn it into a song," he said.

"And every now and then one of those songs, you think, 'that sounds okay, I want to see if anyone else can relate to that, or take anything from that,' and then slowly, a small catalogue of songs is developed, and then it feels like I should do something with them."

The launch party takes place on Monday 28th October in the intimate and relaxed surroundings of Fish Club (above PinqQuay).

Doors open at 19:00 with live music from 20:00 to 21:30.

Free tickets available on Eventbrite.
