The second lift at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital should be working again by the end of today after days of disruption as engineers tried to fix it.
Both lifts stopped working at the weekend.
They offer accessible access to wards on the upper floors including Giffard, Loveridge, Frossard and Victoria Wing.
One of the two visitor/patient lifts was working by yesterday, with the other expected to be fixed today.
Business continuity plans had to be put in place, with labouring women cared for on the ground floor Brock Ward to ensure easy access to the theatres if needed.
It is understood that these plans will be stood down at some point today as hospital activity returns to normal.
