Guernsey's emergency services were as busy as ever during a hot sunny weekend which gave many people cause to celebrate.

Among the call outs attended were a number of critical cases including a medical evacuation to the UK which is thought to have been a life threatening situation.

On Friday 6 July, the St John Emergency Ambulance Service dealt with 20 incidents within 24 hours, Nine calls were described as being for "potentially life threatening cases."

The medical evacuation on Friday night saw the patient taken from the Princess Elizabeth Hospital to the airport where they were then flown to the UK on the Coastguard Helicopter.

Meanwhile, Guernsey Police reported a fairly quiet weekend. There was no trouble following the football game which saw England progress to the semi finals of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Good natured fans gathered across the islands to watch, with hundreds taking advantage of a big screen at the Peninsula hotel to enjoy the atmosphere. Baddiel and Skinner's 1996 football anthem; "It's coming home" was ringing out across St Peter Port's bars until the early hours of Sunday.
