Legends, language and explorers among summer themes

Sunday 18 July 2021

Playing traditional games, meeting puppets or creating your own catapult are just some of the varied events on offer at Castle Cornet this summer.

Guernsey Museums introduce a different theme every seven days to offer something new to families throughout the summer break.

Each week there will be a different themed trail exploring the castle and museums, self-hosted craft activities and – at certain times - storytelling, living history and special guests.

Access & Learning Manager Jo Dowding believes there is something for everyone.

"We held a similar initiative last year and it was so popular that we’ve decided to repeat it with different topics. We’ve picked very broad themes and strive to engage all ages."

The Castle is open seven days a week 10:00 - 16:00 and the activities are every day until 14:00. Entrance is free to Discovery Pass holders and accompanying children.

Guernsey Museum at Candie is also open daily, 10:00 - 17:00, with a new exhibition ‘Heroes of the Viking World’ opening on Monday 19 July. There is also a Viking ship Timewarp to enjoy. Entrance is free to Discovery Pass holders and accompanying children.
