The next Chief Officer of Guernsey Police and the Guernsey Border Agency has been announced, ahead of the retirement of current Head, Patrick Rice.
Ruari Hardy is going to take on the role, which will see him coordinate all of the island's law enforcement assets.
Currently a Superintendent, he was chosen following an application process and interview with a senior appointment panel. This panel had representatives from Home Affairs and Policy & Resources sitting on it.
Chief Officer Rice will retire at the end of this year, and Mr Hardy will take up post immediately afterwards.
“When we set out on this process, it was important that we sought to recruit an experienced officer who had the vision, determination and resilience required to lead the combined services of the Guernsey Border Agency and the Guernsey Police," Home Affairs President, Deputy Mary Lowe, said.
"Mr Hardy has demonstrated his vision and confidence and we look forward to the contribution he will make in this senior leadership role.”

Speaking as another member of the panel, Deputy Gavin St Pier, the island's senior political, said Mr Hardy was expected to build on the "excellent work" undertaken by Chief Officer Rice, to innovate and improve the island's law enforcement bodies.
"[All] while also protecting our communities, meeting public expectations and collecting revenue for the States of Guernsey."
Mr Hardy, who has 34 years experience in police work, and has been with the Guernsey force since 2002, said he was looking forward "with anticipation" to his new job.
"It is a privilege to be appointed the next Bailiwick Head of Law Enforcement," he said.
"It is both an exciting and challenging opportunity and one which I am really looking forward to. Delivering effective Law Enforcement in the Bailiwick of Guernsey will be a demanding task, but one that is made possible by the professionalism and commitment of officers throughout the organisation who have the interest of the Bailiwick communities in their hearts.”
