Jackpot reaches £475,000

Wednesday 18 December 2024

The 2024 Channel Islands Christmas Lottery draw will be held in Guernsey tomorrow - with the jackpot nearing half a million pounds with just a day to go.

By Wednesday morning the first prize had reached £475,000.

It will keep growing as more tickets are sold over the final day.

As well as the top prize, there are more than 60 other prizes up for grabs ranging from £500 to £50,000. In total, more than £1.1 million in prizes will be won as part of the Christmas draw game this year. A further £500,000 worth of prizes were issued as part of the complementary Extravaganza instant Christmas game.

In recent years the jackpot has failed to reach the heady heights of £1m+ as it did around a decade ago. There has also been a pattern of Guernsey winners over the past six years, with syndicates also doing well in recent years too.

Proceeds from the Channel Islands Lottery are distributed through the Social Investment Fund in Guernsey and the Association of Jersey Charities and Jersey Community Foundation in Jersey.

"Many charities and worthy causes have benefited in recent years and £2.4m was raised in 2023 alone through the sale of our CI Lottery games," said Jon Taylor, Head of Lottery for the States of Guernsey.

The Lottery draw procedure takes place in Guernsey on Thursday 19 December.

The winning numbers will be announced during a live radio broadcast with Island FM in Guernsey. Guernsey resellers will also provide printed results sheets by Friday 20 December, at 12 noon.

The winning numbers can also be checked at www.cilottery.org and via two independent lottery checker apps “lotterychecker.je” and “lucky.je”.
