It's time to #Move4BrightTights

Monday 09 September 2024

Brights Tights has launched a new physical activity campaign #Move4BrightTights, with supporters asked to take part in any kind of physical activity while wearing vibrant tights or socks.

They’re then asked to make a donation, and nominate someone else to do the same.

The Charity is keen that anyone taking part records, photographs and posts it on social media.

Bright Tights Day this year is on Friday 1 November and the committee is encouraging individuals, workplaces, businesses and organisations to hold their own #Move4BrightTights events and challenges to raise funds and awareness of gynaecological cancers.

They can do this in the lead up to the day and on the day itself.

Dr Jo Le Noury is the Chair of the Bright Tights charity.

“This year we felt it was important to highlight that by being physically active, women can help to prevent cancers and feel better during and after treatment," she said.

"All you have to do is take part in some sort of exercise wearing bright tights.

“This can be a sport such as running or swimming or playing tennis but can also be any physical activity such as dancing or gardening or going for a walk. Then make a donation on our Giving.gg page and challenge someone else to take part.

“Bright Tights Day is a really important date in our calendar as it gives the opportunity to highlight the signs and symptoms of five different gynaecological cancers.  We really want to get the message out that there are preventative measures such as cervical screening and going to your GP if you have any concerns about abnormal bleeding or pain.

“Further information can be found on our website,  our Bright Tights Guernsey Facebook page and our helpline number Tel 07781 434550.”
