Isabella completes Pike climb

Saturday 13 July 2024

10-year-old Isabella Robilliard completed her fundraising climb of Scafell Pike on the second attempt, battling a downpour as she hiked, to honour the memory of her father and pay back to the charity which cared for him.

She took on the challenge of ascending the 978m mountain – the tallest in England – with her mum and uncle.

Stephen Robilliard was planning to climb Scafell Pike himself, but as his health deteriorated, he inspired his daughter to take on the challenge herself.

At the time of writing, she’s raised £4,415 pounds for Les Bourgs Hospice, which cared for her father just before his death last year.

“I am happy I have raised lots of money, and this is proof you can do anything you put your mind to,” she said after completing the feat on Thursday morning.

Les Bourgs said the effort was “such great news”.

Previously the fundraising manager Liz Stonebridge said the challenge was “incredible.

"Our nursing team takes pride to ensure that the highest standard of compassionate, holistic care is provided to our patients and their families. It is therefore humbling to hear the positive impact that has had on them.

"We are very grateful to Isabella and her support team for raising funds for us.”
