The investigating officers say this has been occurring over the last month and anyone with any information about who is doing this is asked to contact Guernsey Police.

The way the island's rubbish is managed will change from 2018 onwards with a new "pay as you throw" system being introduced.

The States' Trading Assets Deputy Managing Director Richard Evans said:

“Thankfully such incidents are rare, but even one is too many.  I therefore hope members of the public can assist Guernsey Police in tracking down the person or people responsible for illegally dumping this rubbish. That way hopefully they will be subject to a heavy fine under the legal powers that currently exist to prosecute fly-tipping, which is a criminal offence. 

"That will send out a very clear message to the tiny minority who consider such anti-social behaviour to be acceptable, which is that the States and Guernsey Police will not hesitate to pursue them with a view to prosecuting them to the full extent of the law.”
