Home-Start party to go ahead at new location "whatever the weather"

Sunday 29 July 2018

Home-Start has moved its 10th anniversary party to Rue Mainguy so it can go ahead even if the forecast bad weather tries to put a dampener on things.

The charity had planned an outdoor event in the grounds of Government House, to celebrate the work its staff and volunteers have done since it was launched locally in 2008.

Since then, Home-Start Guernsey has helped hundreds of children and their parents and carers by supporting them in situations as diverse as isolation, bereavement, illness, disability or those who are just simply struggling for any reason.

To deliver this work, the charity said it "trains and co-ordinates local volunteers who are matched with families in need of friendship, help or emotional support." It also runs the very successful Dragonflies support group every week.

Today, more than 320 people who have been involved with Home-Start Guernsey are expected to attend the 10th anniversary celebration which will now be held indoors at Rue Maingy Activity Centre instead of Government House as it was originally planned to be.
