One of the most prestigious homes in the Channel Islands has been put up for sale with an asking price of £3.75 million.

Les Mouriaux House, which was historically the residence of Alderney’s governors, is one of the most substantial and prestigious houses on the island.

The six-bedroom Georgian home occupies an elevated position in St Anne’s and has a self-contained guest annex.

Built in 1779 by Peter Le Mesurier, son of the then governor John Le Mesurier, the property is steeped in history and has been visited by both Queen Victoria, during her reign, and Queen Elizabeth in 1956.

It also served as the residence of the first president of Alderney. 

The property is 8,762 sq. ft. and has seven reception rooms to go with its six bedrooms and five bathrooms.
