The St John Emergency Ambulance Appeal has been given a donation of £5,000 from the Guernsey Heart Support Group.

The group is charity made up of local heart patients and their families.

SJEAS Chief Officer, Ali Marquis, said: “I would like to thank members of the Guernsey Heart Support Group for this most generous donation towards the Emergency Ambulance AppealWe are extremely grateful for this support for our fundraising initiative.

"The donation will go towards providing a much needed mobile treatment centre which will benefit thousands of islanders every year.

An order for the new state of the art ambulance was placed towards the end of 2018 and the vehicle is expected to arrive in Guernsey in the spring.

The ambulance, which is adapted from a UK design, will provide the island with a modern treatment facility and will be fitted with a range of diagnostic and specialised medical equipment which will allow clinicians to care for patients and administer advanced skills in the pre-hospital environment.

Anyone wishing to make a donation or organise an event for the fundraising appeal for the new emergency ambulance can contact the St John Emergency Ambulance Service on 725211 or donate via giving.gg.
