Rotary Guernesiais has smashed its target for this year's shoebox appeal with 5,717 donations.
The final figure came in significantly in excess of the 5,000 the charity was aiming to receive from local organisations, groups, schools and charities.
Two full containers and 48 palettes' worth of shoeboxes have been shipped to Poole this week, for collection by the Wessex District Rotary Organisation.
Ann Outram from Rotary Guernesiais said that each shoebox contained essentials and a few gifts. All have been "sent with love to bring joy, happiness and a few smiles to young children in need, living through difficult and desperate times."

Each shoebox is filled with education, health or hygiene products for children who might not otherwise be able to access them. This year, the shoeboxes are being sent to Albania, Romania, Moldova and Ukraine.
The Guernsey Fire & Rescue Service have supplied the containers for the shoeboxes each year, and Channel Seaways ships them to Poole free of charge.
