Sports facilities in Guernsey are being audited and cataloged by the Guernsey Sports Commission.
The initiative has been launched to find out whether there are any gaps in sports services offered to the community.
The data gathering exercise will also help deliver the required outcomes for the Committee for Education. Sport and Culture’s Active 8 plan for sport.
“We are going to be investigating all sporting venues on a parish by parish basis,” said the Commission’s Relationship Director, Steve Sharman, “with the aim of generating a comprehensive library of facilities, opening times, community usage patterns and user groups.”

The data will eventually be a publically accessible resource. The GSC is aiming to create an interactive map detailing all facilities on the island.
It’ll be split into states-owned facilities, private sporting facilities and school facilities.
The GSC has commissioned sporting star Amy Fallaize and an intern, Harry Barrett-Giles, to carry out the audit.
“She has been commissioned to support this project, she has a good back ground in research and turning that information into valuable reports.”
It’s hoped the audit will be completed mid-year.
