Hireable electric van fleet launched

Thursday 02 February 2023

Guernsey Post and Evie have launched a shared electric van service, with three vehicles now available to hire from Millbrook by Envoy House.

Vans owned by the post service have been fitted out with technology supplied by Evie to make it possible for anyone with an Evie account to hire an electric van by the hour.

The vehicles can be used from £15 per hour for the first six hours, or an £80 flat fee for a day.

The vans can be used for anything from moving house, to taking rubbish to the recycling centre. All reservations need to be made using the new Evie Shared Mobility app.

Boley Smillie, CEO of Guernsey Post, said the company was pleased to support a vision for more sustainable transport for the island.

“This is a low-risk opportunity for us to make the most of our investment in our electric fleet,” he said.

Jamie Kelly, CEO of Evie, added: “We have been offering a shared bike, car, and van hire service in Jersey for over three years.

“Van hire has proved to be one of the most popular parts of the entire shared vehicle fleet, so we are delighted to be working with Guernsey Post in this way as it enables us to expand our service of simple, sustainable, and affordable travel to our Guernsey customers.”

Initially there will be three electric vans made available by Guernsey Post for year-round hire.

The fleet may be expanded depending on demand.
