Guernsey Mind nominated for National Awards

Sunday 07 July 2019

Guernsey Mind has been nominated in two categories of the Mind Network Excellence Awards 2019.

The awards recognise and celebrate excellent work and practice within the local branches of Mind across England and Wales. Each branch of Mind is an independent charity, run by local people, for local people.

Guernsey Mind has been nominated in the categories of ‘Tackling Stigma and Discrimination’ and ‘Partnership and Profile’ following its recent Mind Quality Mark review.

In the Tackling Stigma and Discrimination category, Guernsey Mind was praised for its works with the Time to Change campaign to embed cultural change about mental health through its Workplace Wellbeing Program.

"Guernsey Mind has also partnered with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development to run Guernsey's first survey of mental health in the workplace as a basis for designing appropriate interventions."

And in the Partnership and Profile category, it was said that: "Guernsey Mind has leveraged its influence to positively change the landscape for mental health and wellbeing in Guernsey. Last year, the States of Guernsey approved the Mental Health and Wellbeing plan produced for Guernsey Mind as the basis for all mental health work in the Bailiwick of Guernsey.

"In recognition of its outstanding contribution to mental health services, Guernsey Mind was shortlisted for Charity of the Year at the Community Awards in 2014 and 2016, winning the title in 2018. The Lions Centre, home to Guernsey Mind, hosts voluntary and community organisations that provide a range of services."

Emily Litten, Executive Director of Guernsey Mind was delighted to hear about the nominations.

"We have an excellent team and I am delighted for everyone here that our work has been noticed and recognised at national level. This is an achievement, so whether we win the titles in October or not, I am feeling very proud."
