What's on where...Liberation Day 2024

Thursday 09 May 2024

The 79th anniversary of Guernsey's liberation will be marked across the island, in a variety of ways starting with the sounding of the air raid siren, and culminating in a fireworks display.

At 08:59, Helen Glencross - the Head of Heritage Services for Guernsey Museums - will sound the siren from Victoria Tower.

That will be followed by a number of ceremonial events including the Wreath Laying, Military Parade, and Church Service.

At the same time there will be athletics events with the Liberation Day seven mile road race from Rousse to town - first staged in 1946 - and the schools' relay race on the St Peter Port quay.

Throughout the day there will be events in town, and elsewhere across the island.
