The Big Bike Film Night is coming to Guernsey and will showcase ten films promoting cycling as a means to adventure.
The festival began in New Zealand in 2015 and is now in its 9th year. It’ll be held at the Princess Royal Centre for Performing Arts.
The films on show include; a dramatic ‘scenic trip to hell’, insight from schools into how active transport can be promoted, a healing journey undertaken by a Scottish cyclist, and a story based in Iceland; all revolve around cycling.
“This evening is open to everyone of all ages; it’s not about cycling as a sport, but how the humble bicycle transforms lives for so many people,” said Phillip Le Poidevin from the Guernsey Bicycle Group (GBG).

The GBG was instrumental in linking up with the New Zealand organisers of the event, who chose to launch it in Guernsey because of “the significant uptake of all ages and abilities of cycling as part of everyday life in the Bailiwick”.
“It’s an incredible opportunity to bring together the best cycling short films from around the world for Guernsey - celebrating the fun, adventure, and inspiration that bikes enable,” continued Mr Le Poidevin.
All proceeds from the event will be going towards the GBG’s efforts in getting more people to cycle.
The event will be taking place on 26 April and tickets can be bought ONLINE.
