Guernsey game designers fall in-line with global colleagues

Saturday 27 January 2018

Aspiring and professional game designers will have the opportunity to take part in the Global Game Jam today, as the Digital Greenhouse hosts a Guernsey hub for the event.

The GGJ is the world's largest game jam event taking place around the world at multiple physical locations.

It is set to stir a global creative buzz in the gaming industry, with exploration of the development process, whether that be programming, design, narrative or art.

The GGJ encourages people with all kinds of backgrounds to participate and contribute to this global spread of game development.

The Jam started last night at 17:00, with participants watching a short introduction video where the theme was announced. Everyone was then given 36 hours to develop a game before they are showcased on Sunday.

In January 2017 at the first version of the event that Guernsey participated in, there were 700 locations across 95 countries, who all created more than 7,000 games in the one weekend.

The Guernsey event is taking place at the Digital Greenhouse in Town.
