Combining elements of contemporary jazz and European folky influences with cutting edge improvisation; Jasper Høiby will take to the stage of St James this Friday 15 November from 8pm!
As the founding member of Phronesis, one of the most talked about and acclaimed European bands during the last decade, Jasper Høiby now returns with his new piano trio 3Elements.
With a melodic and bold sound of visceral and kinetic musical interplay and featuring a revolving line-up of some of Europe’s best young talent, his latest release ‘Like Water’ features piano prodigy Chaerin Im from South Korea and Jamie Peet, a uniquely eclectic drummer from the Netherlands.
“Høiby fashions his pieces so the lines between freedom and form are beautifully blurred, the music flows as a tumultuous organic whole – everything belongs, nothing is forced.” - MOJO

The concept being all three of them have various styles, skill sets and such an eclectic taste that it would be a kaleidoscopic entity of good music and fun times.
Also with The Lo-Fidelity Sparkle Bitches and Leon Robertson.

A magnetic novel about two families, strangers to each other, who are forced together on a long weekend gone terribly wrong.
Amanda and Clay head to a remote corner of Long Island expecting a holiday: a quiet reprieve from life in New York City, quality time with their teenage son and daughter and a taste of the good life in the luxurious home they've rented for the week. But with a late-night knock on the door, the spell is broken.
An impossibly compelling literary thriller about the world we live in now, Rumaan Alam's novel is keenly attuned to the complexities of parenthood, race and class. Leave the World Behind explores how our closest bonds are reshaped in moments of crisis - and how the most terrifying situations are never far from reality.
This session will take place in the Board Room on the second floor.
