Liberation 80th Poetry Open - submissions now open

liberation_80-updated.jpg

Are you passionate about local history? Perhaps you're an aspiring writer? This may just be the perfect opportunity for you.

In 1945 the Islands of Guernsey felt the relief of Liberation from the occupying forces. This momentous day has been celebrated annually by all who live (or have lived) in the islands, and still has significant meaning to all.

In 2025 we celebrate 80 years since this date, and reflect on, commemorate and celebrate this occasion in our shared history.

To honour the milestone, Guernsey Arts are thrilled to welcome our island's creatives to submit a piece of their own work.

Liberation 80th Poetry Open looks to use poetry, prose and the written word as a means for the community to share their words on such an important date in the Bailiwicks history.

Moor Theatre presents: The Crucible

In a small, tight-knit Puritan community, gossip and rumour spread like wildfire, inflaming personal grievances until no-one is safe from accusation and vengeance.

In the face of such fervour, how can John Proctor, a local farmer, hope to protect his family and his dignity?

From Tuesday 5 to Saturday 9 November, the wonderful Moor Theatre will tell the story of The Crucible by Arthur Miller. A total of five performances will take place in the Holy Trinity Church, each starting at 19:30.
