Herstory Art Tour

On Friday 12 April from 17:45, as part of HERSTORY Fest at Guernsey Museum, Guernsey Arts will be exploring recent works within the museum by contemporary female artists.

We'll be looking at the works of Jeni Snell, Vivien Ferneyhough, Frances Lemmon, Linda Martorella, and Olympia McEwan.

Come with us on a journey which takes in bunkers, fortifications, tales of folklore, and the human form, as well as portraiture of iconic local women.

St James Dance Festival 2024

Following on from their hugely successful event last year, the St James Dance Festival returns to the concert hall for 2024!

Taking place next weekend from Friday 19 until Sunday 21 April, you can expect a weekend full of dance workshops and socials, a 50s dance party on Saturday night featuring ‘The Class of ’58’ (one of the UK’s most popular Rock’nRoll and Doowoop bands) plus a traditional Tea Dance on Sunday to round off the weekend.

Among the dance workshops are: Salsa, Bachata, Cha Cha Cha, Lindy Hop, and Rock’n’Roll, and all are free with your ticket. That’s a full weekend of dance for just £15, what’s not to love?

The Academy of Dance & Theatre Arts Presents: A Night at the Movies

With three performances taking place over two days, this Saturday 13 April and Sunday 14 marks The Academy of Dance & Theatre Arts first ever student showcase!

Taking to the stage of The Princess Royal Centre for the Performing Arts, the ADTA will perform a series of dances based on popular film titles.

“Based on work that we do in class, and themed around movies, there is something to suit everyone's tastes. Plus, don't miss our special Sunday afternoon gala performance, filled with dances from our recent successful trip to the The Jersey Dance Awards, as well as performances from our senior school to inspire your little ones!”

Whether you’re a movie buff, a dance fanatic, or just love a good show; it’s worth saving some space in your calendar for this event.

The Hunt for the German Submarine

Now moving over to the art of filmmaking; next on our list is an enthralling documentary film screening, taking place within Beau Sejour cinema on Monday 15 and Wednesday 17 April.

The brilliantly presented documentary was directed and produced by local filmmaker and award winning photographer Karl Taylor, and is sure to provide viewers with an awe-inspiring, new perspective on the hidden mysteries of our Channel Islands.
