Tuesday 18 July 2023

The Guernsey Alzheimer’s Association (GAA) raised an astonishing £15,000 during a charity event which will benefit the local carers and those in the community affected by Alzheimer’s.

On Friday 30 June a charity golf day was held to raise funds for supporting local carers and those in the community affected by Alzheimer’s.

Teams came along in support of the charity golf day, with ex–international England rugby captain, Kyran Bracken MBE appearing in support as well as participating in the sport competing against multiple teams.

Kyran describes the event as ‘progressive rugby’ and an opportunity to raise awareness of sports–related brain injury. Kyran hosted the event and participated along with 21 team members, taking them up on a challenge.

Julie Thompson said “we are thrilled with the support we received from the attendees and sponsors of our golf daywe are very thankful to HFL for sponsoring our event and helping us to bring Kyran Bracken MBE over to play with the local teamsit was a great day and lots of fun”.

The Guernsey Alzheimer’s Association is a charity run support group. It supports carers and ex– carers of loved ones who have been affected by dementia in partnership with Health and Social Care.

They have additional support groups every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 2pm which include singing, games and sharing old photographs as well as music sessions all with a cup of tea.
