Thousands of people gathered to mark the Proclamation of King Charles III in Guernsey this weekend, with a number of images taken to record the day by the official States Photographer, Chris George.
The day began with a special States Meeting held at St James. There, the Bailiff read the Proclamation of Accession in the presence of His Majesty's representative in the Bailiwick, His Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor.

Also present were members of the States of Deliberation, the Clergy, the Jurats and Advocates of the Royal Court and parish officials. All had to reaffirm their allegiance to the Crown by swearing an oath to King Charles III.
This was followed by a procession to the Crown Pier where members of the public had gathered to take part in the ceremonial events.
At midday His Majesty’s Sheriff read the Proclamation. At the end of the reading of the Proclamation, those gathered together shouted "Dieu Sauve Le Roi".

A 21-gun salute was fired from Castle Cornet and His Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor led the Cheers of Goodwill before the ceremony ended with the National Anthem. Music was provided by the Guernsey Concert Brass.
Following this part of the ceremony, the island's officials returned to St James where the UK Act of Proclamation was registered on the island's records and the Oaths and Affirmations of Allegiance were administered.
