Several UK yacht clubs visited Alderney over the bank holiday weekend, starting the sailing season with several gatherings.
The Brixham Yacht Club sailed in with 14 boats on Friday (28 April) and more than 50 crew members were welcomed to the island by the Alderney Sailing Club’s Vice Commodore Ben Turner.
“Saturday’s arrival of PCYacht Club was unexpected but equally welcome. Initially the 9-strong crew of WOLVERINE had planned to sail to Guernsey, but in view of the weather forecast opted for a safe haven in Braye Harbour instead,” said the Club.
“After a well-deserved drink, their commodore Nick Covell exchanged burgees with Alderney Sailing Club Commodore Nigel Vooght."
On Sunday a prize giving event was held at the clubhouse by the Poole Yacht Racing Association.
