Condor is converting six cabins on the Commodore Clipper to be able to accommodate animals after the room type received 'paw-dits' from passengers travelling on the Islander.
The cabins, which will have a laminated floor and access to an outside deck for exercise, are expected to be available for this year's summer season.
The Condor Islander entered service in November 2023, and was the first vessel in the firm’s fleet to have pet-friendly cabins.
John Napton, Chief Executive of Condor, said he expects the new cabins to be popular after positive customer feedback from those using them on the Islander.
“Our figures show that in 2019, we carried 12,700 pets on our routes from the UK to Jersey and Guernsey and inter-island, whereas in 2022 that figure had soared to 16,600, an increase of 30%,” he said.
Pets can still be carried in a vehicle or appropriate carrier on the car deck on board the Clipper, Islander, Liberation and Voyager.
For pets booked in to cabins, Condor doesn’t allow them into passenger areas meaning they must stay in the cabin unless going to the outdoor exercise area, where they must be muzzled and kept on a lead.
They must also be muzzled and on a lead while being taken to and from their cabin during embarkation and disembarkation.
