'Fridge fire' causes problems at Morrisons

Friday 04 January 2019

Fire alarms were going off again this morning, as a troublesome fridge kept engineers busy at the new Morrisons Daily store at L'islet.

Yesterday lunchtime the Fire and Rescue Service was called to the supermarket after a refrigerator unit leaked gas causing a lot of smoke, setting off the shop's alarms system.

Staff evacuated the store, and no one was hurt, while the fire crew dealt with the faulty appliance.

The shop was ventilated and once all of the 'hazy smog' had dispersed, shoppers and staff were allowed back in.

However, engineers were seen at the store this morning, while the alarms could be heard and there was a faint 'smog' in the air as they tried to fix the fridge for good.
