Four taken to Emergency Department overnight

Thursday 19 August 2021

Four people were taken to hospital by the Emergency Ambulance Service last night, following three separate crashes, two of which happened on the same Torteval road.

At 20:26, an ambulance was sent to Route de Pleinmont, Torteval for a one car RTC. One patient was assessed and treated by the crew before being transferred to the Emergency Department for further medical attention.

The second incident occurred at around 22:40. The ambulance service was called to a two car road traffic collision on another part of Route de Pleinmont Torteval.

Initially a double crewed ambulance was dispatched to the scene. However, following an assessment of the patients, a second ambulance had to be called. Clinicians provided initial treatment on scene before transporting two people to hospital.

Then at 23:44, an ambulance was dispatched to a cyclist involved in a collision at Albecq, Castel. No other vehicles were involved. The patient was assessed and treated by paramedics before being conveyed to the Emergency Department.

Between 08:00 on Wednesday and 08:00 on Thursday, the Emergency Ambulance Service responded to 23 calls. Two off-duty staff had to be called back into work to provide cover during two periods of heavy demand.

St John Ambulance volunteers were also on duty at the West Show providing medical cover for the event.
