The octagonal building at the bus stop, formerly used as a bus information booth, has been offered to the Guernsey Tourism Partnership by the States for this year’s season.
It has been offered free of charge and will essentially become a giant billboard for members of the GTP. It’ll also intermittently be manned, and during those times act as a tourist information centre.
“It has been sitting there as an eyesore for a couple of years now,” said Committee member, Chris Meinke. “It’s perfectly placed for people coming off the cruise ships and using the bus station.”
The Guernsey Tourism Partnership was founded during covid, to support local businesses that rely on tourism and were struggling through the pandemic. It represents “anything that isn’t bricks and mortar” said Mr Meinke.
Each member of the GTP will be entitled to present a 580mm by 170mm advert for their business or attraction in the office.
Mr Meinke said it was offered to them by the States of Guernsey via Visit Guernsey and the Partnership will be utilising it for the summer season.
“The footfall in this area is substantial with both tourists and locals and the kiosk is on the route followed by cruise passengers on their way from ship to Town,” he said.
“We’d like to use this opportunity for the benefit of our members.”
