A Blue Islands operated flight between Guernsey and Southampton had to divert to Jersey after a technical issue with the plane's hydraulic systems was detected yesterday.
Blue Islands said; "flight BE6342, with 40 passengers and four crew, from Guernsey to Southampton has landed safely in Jersey after diverting there" following the discovery of the technical issue.
The airline said its ATR 72 aircraft "landed safely and without incident in Jersey" and was immediately met by the airport’s emergency services as a precautionary measure "as is standard procedure in such instances."
A statement released by Blue Islands said that once the plane was safely on a stand at Jersey Airport "all passengers disembarked normally" and that they were then transferred to a Blue Islands dedicated spare aircraft to continue their journey.
Blue Islands’ engineers started their "full investigation into the cause of the technical fault" yesterday but results are not yet known.
The airline said the "safety of our passengers and crew is Blue Islands’ highest priority and we apologise for the inconvenience experienced."
