Castle Cornet visitors can step back in time today as the popular Fete d'Etai medieval summer festival returns.
Guernsey Museums has arranged a packed timetable of activities for children and adults to explore medieval history, art, music and daily life.
The castle is welcoming a special guest back to the island for this year's event for the first time since 2015. Musician, Richard York will be practicing the age-old art of storytelling in unusual and atmospheric areas of the castle, using a harp, bagpipes and other instruments to enhance his tales.
The live action role play group Tol Galen will also be providing entertainment, with sword fights and displays of weapons and armour. Meanwhile visitors can take part in arts and crafts activities and can even go home with their own model of a medieval catapult.
"We would like to make our visitors aware that we are expecting a very high number of cruise ship passengers in the morning," said Access and Learning Manager, Jo Dowding. "Activities in the castle continue until 16:00, so some locals might prefer to visit us from later morning onwards."
Several re-enactors from the Duke's Leopards in Jersey have once again made their way over to take part in the event. They will bring a medieval food table, as well as their knowledge of the ingredients and recipes of the time.
The Fete d'Etai opens at 10:00 and will run until 16:00.
Admission is £10.50 for adults, £3 for children and free for those under 7, while Discovery Pass holders can enter for free.
Due to the expected high cruise ship passenger numbers, Discovery Pass holders will be 'fast tracked' to the entry.
