Feeling positive

The latest survey assessing island life during the covid-19 pandemic has seen an increase in positive reactions as we move through to phase three of our lockdown.

The weekly surveys are assessing the wellbeing of people living in the Crown Dependencies with more than 1500 responses in total, including 601 from Guernsey.

The latest results saw those respondents in Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man rate their perception of the level of threat that Covid-19 poses to their own home island and to the UK out of 10. 

The responses from people in Guernsey found we are less concerned than those in Jersey.

This aligns with the early results from a poll run by Express asking for views on whether our Bailiwick should 'bubble' with Jersey once we have eliminated all trace of the virus locally.

People living in each of the three islands surveyed are overall collectively more positive about the level of threat to our islands than to the UK, and we also say we are more optimistic about when 'normal life' will be resumed locally compared to in the UK.

The vast majority of people in each island. say the first thing they will do when 'normal life' is resumed, is to visit family and friends.

Again, the survey showed people in Guernsey have more confidence that will happen soon, with further evidence that residents of our Bailiwick have confidence in the way the pandemic has been handled compared to those living in Jersey and the Isle of Man.
