“When it comes to taxi fares, do you know your rights?” asks the States of Guernsey.
Government advice has been issued on taxi fares in response to complaints about the use of fixed rates.
“For hailing a taxi on-demand, taxi drivers should always charge the metered rate,” the States said via a Facebook post.
“For pre-booking a taxi in advance, you can agree a fixed rate with the operator or you can ask to be charged the metered rate, but the taxi operator is not obliged to accept your booking if they do not wish to charge the metered rate.
“If you are concerned that you are being charged fixed rates when you should be offered the metered rates, please get in touch with us at passengertransport@gov.gg or by calling 221000.”
The post was requested by the Driver & Vehicle Licensing Authority.
