Family hair cut for charity

Monday 02 April 2018

Three members of the same family are having their hair cut off to raise money for charity.

Dawn Collins, her daughter Kirsty Collins and her granddaughter Jade Ferbrache, will also donate their hair to The Little Princess Trust.

The idea first came from Jade, who decided before Christmas that she wanted to have her hair cut and raise money at the same time. Her mum said she would join her with the pair then asking grandmother Dawn to join them when she said she also wanted to have her hair cut.

Mrs Collins suggested they raise money for the new climbing frames needed at St Mary and St Michael Catholic Primary School and although her grandaughter Jade doesn't attend this school she wanted to help as her own school has already had a new climbing frame.

Jade and her mum have both said they are very nervous about the hair cut but that Jade will be pleased as her hair is the longest and is difficult to manage. Mrs Dawn Collins said she "will be glad to get mine cut shorter as it will be quicker to sort out in the morning rush."

As a family they have already raised more than £1,000. Some of that money will also go to The Little Princess Trust to cover the cost of making the wigs which will then go to children who have lost their hair due to illness.

Donations can be made by going to www.giving.gg St Mary and St Michael school climbing frame appeal.
