Bailiwick Express is going to launch a free weekly newspaper, delivered to every island household by Guernsey Post.
Containing stories, features, commentary and analysis written by Express’s team of journalists, the newspaper will keep islanders up-to-date with local news, sport and business. There will also be motoring, arts, health and lifestyle sections, as well as opportunities for islanders to look for homes or jobs.
With a local circulation of 28,000 copies, Bailiwick Express will be creating an extensive platform to communicate in print with islanders.
In the last few months, Bailiwick Express has recruited a team of local journalists, sales and production staff to produce the weekly paper, which will be printed on high-quality recyclable paper, with excellent colour reproduction.

Express Director James Filleul commented: “In the last year in Guernsey we have built up a very strong online audience, who come to Express for its mix of local news and classified advertising services. Our intention is now to broaden out our services so that we can cater for everyone in Guernsey, no matter how you would like to access our news and information. If you prefer a ‘hard copy’ paper, then we will also soon be able to deliver that to you as well.
“Bailiwick Express is a local business trying to innovate, and so provide the best possible news and information service for Guernsey for many years to come - producing a newspaper is the next logical step in that journey, and a really exciting one for a ‘digital’ business to undertake. With a blank sheet of paper, how would you create a newspaper which works? We believe it can still work successfully, if you have the right business model."

Express plans to launch its newspaper in the spring.
Guernsey Editor Laura Clayton added: “This is a really exciting project, and I’m delighted we have been able to secure the services of some well known local journalists and writers to support us in delivering it. I’ve worked in Guernsey news for many years, and what Express is doing now brings so much of that experience together in one place, online, in print, and on radio.
“Ultimately we will simply be telling the stories which matter to Guernsey people in a different format, complementing what we already do on the Bailiwick Express website."
