Estate manager wants increased surveillance of archway

Sunday 31 October 2021

The company that manages the Fort George Estate wants to put CCTV by the entrance in response to "several" occasions on which the archway has been damaged by vehicles.

The planning application requests permission to install a CCTV camera on the lamp post by the archway.

There were two visible areas of damage to the top of the entrance when Express visited the estate.

Savills Property Manager Dale Massey, on behalf of Fort George Estate Company Limited, said there is an increasing need for a surveillance system.

“The arch way leading into and out of the fort has suffered damage on several occasions where it has been struck by vehicles entering and exiting the estate,” said Mr Massey.

“Fort George Estate Company Limited would therefore like to install a CCTV camera on the lamp post facing the arch to monitor movements through the arch in the event of future damage.

“It is proposed that signage in accordance with regulation is instaled above the existing signage next to the lamp post.”

The planning application is currently live and will be decided by the Planning Department.
