Islanders are being encouraged to complete the States of Guernsey’s Education survey, which closes at the end of this week.
Over 900 members of the public have shared their views on several topics, including the optimal number of students on each school site, the overall number of schools and the relative importance of the facilities on offer.
The feedback will be used as part of analysis of the four secondary education models currently being proposed. These models are:
- Two 11-18 colleges
- Three 11-18 colleges
- Two 11-16 colleges and one 11-18 college
- Three 11-16 colleges and a separate Sixth Form site
Results of the survey will be used in a series of workshops later this month, in which secondary school staff will give their views on the best possible versions of each model. The Youth Commission will also run workshops at each of the four mainstream secondary schools, to gauge the opinions of current students.
This will allow the States to make a more informed decision about the future of secondary and post-16 education following the successful 'pause and review'.
The survey is open until 11:59pm on Sunday 27 September, and can be completed HERE.
Anyone who requires this survey in an alternative format e.g. a paper copy, should contact 'educationsportandculture@gov.gg' or call 01481 733000.
