Epic runners ditch sleep for fundraising

One hundred runners set off in the middle of the night as part of the latest fundraising challenge for local charity, This is Epic.

Led by Warren Mauger, with Philip Smith leading the support team as he was unable to run due to injury, the runners tackled different distances from five km to a full marathon.

Sponsored by FCG, all money raised will go to the Guernsey-based charity, This is EPIC, which aims to empower people in poverty to enable them to improve their lives through saving schemes and loan projects.

Those taking on the full moonlight marathon started from Octopus restaurant at Havelet Bay at 02:00 before meeting the half marathon runners at Cobo at around 04:00. They than ran along the west coast towards the airport, picking up runners tackling the five mile and five km challenges on the way.

The whole group finished the run together, heading in to town before having a joint breakfast at Octopus.
