Two of the Bailiwick's environmental charities have been awarded a total of £112,500 in Channel Islands Lottery funding.
The Social Investment Fund has awarded £100,000 to the Guernsey Nature Commission and £12,500 to the Alderney Bird Observatory.
Guernsey Nature Commission works with the States, the third sector and businesses to reverse declining biodiversity. Their grant has supported the charity's initial set up and running costs for its first two years.
The Alderney Bird Observatory monitors, records and researches the bird population of Alderney, including its sea birds and seasonal migrants. They are using their grant to support their core running costs and research.
The CI Lottery works closely with the Social Investment Fund, Jersey Community Foundation and the Association of Jersey Charities to distribute lottery funding.
"We are delighted to support environmental initiatives through the Channel Islands Lottery," said Jon Taylor, Presiding Officer of the CI Lottery.
"Funding these dedicated organisations allows us to contribute to the preservation and enhancement of our natural surroundings. Their work in protecting wildlife, promoting sustainability and educating the community is vital for the future of our islands, and we are proud to play a part in their efforts."
