eBussy: the future of electric cars?

Wednesday 26 May 2021

A fully electric concept car could be zipping around Guernsey roads by the end of the year.

The eBussy is a small modular vehicle designed in Germany.

Its USP is its modular design, with the eBussy branded as not just one vehicle, but ten in one.

“One week you might need a tipper truck and the other week a box van,” said Rob Cornelius, the Owner of Forest Road Garage, which will be stocking the eBussy.

“You can change the modules on the back of the vehicle depending on what you need that week."

A physical version has yet to be seen despite much hype; however, the final product is due to be revealed online on 7 July.

Demo vehicles should become available later this year, with full production soon after.

“We saw the product and subsequently made some enquiries directly with eBussy,” said Mr Cornelius, explaining how it came onto his radar.

“It was something we felt complemented what we already offered and was perfect for Guernsey.”

The vehicle is only 3.6 metres long and the base would fit in Guernsey’s small car parking spaces.

The basic body of the eBussy will set you back £13,500, with additional costs for various modules and bolt-ons.

Following a ‘soft launch’ in the island, Mr Cornelius said there had been "a really positive response to the vehicle so far".
