The Flying Christine III was sent to Herm in the early hours of Sunday morning for a patient who required urgent treatment for injuries they had suffered.
The St John marine ambulance was called shortly after midnight and a volunteer boat crew and medical team from the Emergency Ambulance Service assembled at St Peter Port harbour, before departing for Herm
On arrival in Herm, the clinicians attended the patient who was being cared for by a Herm first responder. The patient was assessed and treated by the paramedic before being transported to Rosaire Steps and onto the Flying Christine using a basket stretcher.
The patient continued to be treated during the crossing back to Guernsey.
"On arrival in St Peter Port, at around 02:20, the patient was transferred to a waiting road ambulance for the journey to the Emergency Department of the Princess Elizabeth Hospital," said a Spokesman for St John.
"At the same time as the ambulance crew was responding to the mission to Herm, other crews were also dealing with three other medical cases in Guernsey."
The St John marine ambulance is crewed by a team of volunteer skippers and engineers from the local maritime community and staffed by professional clinicians from the Emergency Ambulance Service. The Flying Christine III relies on support from charitable donations, sponsorship and bequests.
