Drink driver sent to prison

A woman in Guernsey has been given a two month prison sentence for driving while more than three times over the drink drive limit.

Lisa White, 46, was reported to Guernsey Police by a concerned member of the public in December last year.

She had been driving along La Girouette, St Saviour, and when breath tested, gave a reading of 126mcg of alcohol. The limit is set at 35mcg.

White entered a not guilty plea on 7 January and claimed the person who reported her had been a 'drink drive hunter'. She then said the member of the public was part of a conspiracy to get her off the road.

However, following a trial earlier this month, the defendant was found guilty.

On sentencing in the island's Magistrate's Court, Judge Gary Perry noted White's "level of delusional thinking" and "willingness to blame an innocent member of the public".

"You have little or nothing by mitigation in your favour," he added.

Along with her prison sentence, White has been disqualified from driving for four years and will have to pay a £500 fine for breaching her bail conditions in May, when she failed to turn up to court.
